No two writers do the same thing.

This is what I do.

As an Internet user, I want interface text to be quick and effective, so that I can get on with what I want to do.

I write the UX copy I want to see.

I don’t write much.

I write for small screens. A good experience doesn’t require many words.

I avoid the spotlight.

I want my words to be understood, not noticed.

I speak with users.

Your services shouldn’t intimidate, stress out, or condescend to your users. So I strive for clarity, brevity, and a conversational tone.

I soften the blow.

I reduce user frustration with errors using direct communication and clear solutions.

I’m a professional perfectionist.

I make sure that my words and how I use them are correct and consistent with existing style guides.

I create and maintain style guidelines when they don’t.
